By Diehard GameFAN on 73 Tropico 3 is a fun city buiding/dictator sim that, for the price, will last you longer than most other games on the market. If you are new to the genre this might not be the best title to start with; at the very least, newcomers should start with the...

By 1Up on 75 There's something appealing about a good, old fashioned dictatorship, so long as you're the dictator. It's a tempting kind of fantasy, whether you feel like being a despotic tyrant, the architect of a tropical utopia, or more likely, a...

By cnet on 80 Life in a Cold War banana republic probably wasn't as much fun in the real world as it is in Tropico 3. Fortunately, this little bit of historical revisionism is one of the few complaints you can make about this city builder. Haemimont Games has...
By Games Radar on 70 This should be fun, right? Thrust into the squeaking, tropical shoes of a cruel and vitriolic dictator, you’re going to get to lord it up over your very own island paradise, raking in oodles of cash and setting up the sort of brutal military...

By AtomicGamer on 88 For years, the appeal of city-building games eluded me. As a teenager, I couldn't figure out why you'd want to plop buildings down in a field in SimCity when you could be killing demons in DOOM instead. As I grew older, turn-based strategy...

The core mechanics are still the same, and the new campaign might be a turn off to sim fans looking for something more grounded and traditional. However, if you were a fan of Tropico 3 and want another reason to step into the role of El Presidente once more, then this is yourchance.' Absolute Power was released on PC as an expansion pack, and is included in the Macintosh version of the game. The expansion pack gives the player a wider selection of edicts such as 'Print money', 'Free housing', 'Delete a Faction' and 'Shoot Juanito' (which involves blowing up Juanito's TNT Radio). These new edicts are called 'Megalomania edicts'; for each edict that the player releases they can gain a varying amount of megalomania score that counts at the end of the game.
Also there is a new range of buildings, including 'Golden Statue' (in the likeness of 'El Presidente'), 'Garbage dump' and 'Balloon rides'. The Loyalist faction is also introduced; it is composed of the player's most loyal supporters. There is also a second radio DJ named Betty Boom who is head of the resistance movement against El Presidente.Editions Steam Special Edition The 'Steam Special Edition' of Tropico 3 offers two additional maps for the sandbox mode and two additional costumes for the El Presidente avatar editor.
